Plein Air - One Day Workshop

In this plein air painting class you will explore the experience of painting outdoors and capturing the landscape directly from life. Participants will begin at the Middletown Arts Center where the instructor will review best practices essential supplies and tips for painting on location. After a brief introduction the group will travel to a nearby outdoor site location to be determined.
Once on site Nate will share insights from his own plein air practice including how to choose a compelling scene what details bring a composition to life and how to translate the landscape into your painting.
He will offer a short demonstration before inviting students to begin their own work. As you paint Nate will provide individual guidance and feedback to support your process and help you develop your skills in the field.
Access to bathrooms is dependent upon final location.

These are recommended supplies for this workshop as provided by the instructor. If you are an experienced plein air painter, please feel free to bring your preferred supplies.
- Paint Thinner & Paint Thinner Container (Gamsol, or any preferred paint thinner)
- Paper towels (Blue shop towels are recommended by instructor)
Paints: Recommended brands are Gamblin, Gamblin 1980, Williamsburg, Winsor+Newton. **Winton is NOT recommended as it does not mix well
Colors:- Cadmium Red Light
- Cadmium Red Medium

- Ultramarine Blue
- Cerulean Blue
