Students will perform hands-on projects, have discussions and listen to  demonstrations to gain a deeper understanding of how to draw what they see. The focus will be on creating drawings that utilize line as a key compositional element while learning to simplify objects into basic shapes. Additionally, we will draw inspiration from the works of Pablo Picasso and M. C. Escher to construct a collage drawing.
 
Supplies: Graphite pencil, kneaded eraser, and handheld pencil sharpener Charcoal, Stick Charcoal, Vine and Compressed Charcoal - Paper (or sketchbook) and newsprint *Optional materials - portfolio case
