WORKSHOPS

Pastel Landscape Workshop With Doug Dawson Master Pastelist, P.S.A.
      About The Workshop:

My teaching style is to give demos whenever possible.  In a typical demo, I do a lot of talking.  I explain what my thinking is with each problem.  When I am not demonstrating I go around from student to student.  I ask what they would like help with.  I share my observations.  I tend to be very extemporaneous.  I believe that a person should leave a workshop overwhelmed by the amount of new information and skills they have been exposed to; yet this should be done in an atmosphere which allows people to relax and enjoy the experience.”

About The Artist:
Tom Bluemlein, President of the American Impressionist Society, is today’s counterpart to the 19th century European master. He is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America, a member of Indiana Plein Air Painters & The Society of Marine Artists. He is a native Kentuckian and has studied with masters in Woodstock, NY; Cincinnati, OH; & Santa Fe, NM. Tom celebrates nature, capturing the beauty of the landscape and life force of the creation. He captures the spirit of the locale, not just the natural elements on view within the canvas. His palette highlights earthly hues with bold colors creating a homogenous presentation of sky, water and land. A true impressionist, he masters the power of light with a stroke and jot of his brush to capture a strong focused light.
