Middletown Arts Center Board of Governors For Fiscal Year July 2010 – June 2011
Sharon Bogan A Miami University graduate, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Family and Child Studies, Sharon is the Executive Director of MALACHI, a non-profit agency that works to build the assets of adolescents so they might achieve success within their family and their community. She has worked in social services for 23 years. She is co-chair of the Butler County Asset Builders Network and has been involved in a variety of community activities.
David E. Beck
(board member since 2005) A University of Dayton graduate, he held various positions with Armco Steel,
Contech Construction Products and was a Contributing Editor for Civil
Engineering News magazine. He has served on the Middletown Planning Commission
and Board of Zoning Appeals, and has chaired the MiddFest Finance and Youth
Program Committees.
Richard M. Davies
(board member since 1996)
A Miami University graduate and a long-standing member of MAC, serving as
President from 2000 until 2005. He has held various commercial positions at
Armco/AK Steel and has been actively involved in many community activities
including Junior Achievement, YMCA, MiddFest and Hospice. He is also a member of
the Browns Run Country Club Board of Directors.
John Watterson
“Jack” Howard
(board member since 1988), A Miami University graduate, he held
various architectural positions prior to becoming City Planner and Chief
Designer for the City of Middletown. He is a full-time artist specializing in
architectural renderings. He has been actively involved with the Middletown
Public Library, Glendale Planning Commission, Middletown Symphony, Middletown
Chamber of Commerce, Middletown Preservation Council and the Cincinnati Art
Club.
Jennifer B. Kerr
(board member since 2003)A William Woods
College graduate, she is a long-standing member and past-president of the
Middletown Board of Realtors, and serves on the Salvation Army Women's
Auxiliary-Board of Directors. She is also actively involved with the Broad
Street Bash Music Festival committee, the annual Abilities First Golf Outing and
the Sorg Opera Guild.
Martin Kohler
(board member since 2005)
He is a graduate of Miami University and The Ohio State University with degrees
in Business Management and City and Regional Planning. Formerly Director of City
Planning for Park Forest IL, he joined the City of Middletown in 2002 as
supervisor of Building Inspection, Community Development, and Housing
Assistance. He is actively involved with the Downtown Middletown Alliance,
Middletown Historical Society, Heritage Ohio, PRISM South Main St. Association
and the Art Central Foundation.
James
P. Langendorf
(board member since 2007)
Is an attorney at law. He graduated from Lake Superior
State University and the University of Dayton, and is a member of the
Ohio, Dayton, Butler County and American Bar Associations and the National
Employment Lawyers Association. He is a past chapter treasurer and president of
the Middletown Chapter of the Order of The American Hellenic Educational
Progressive Association and a starting player with the Cincinnati Wolves ice
hockey team.
Catherine (Cathy) Mulligan
(board member since 2008)
A graduate of the
College of Mt. St. Joseph and the University of Cincinnati, holds a Master’s
degree in Mathematics. She was a member of the original faculty of Miami
University-Middletown where she taught mathematics for 31 years. She also taught
at Fenwick High School, served as Principal and recently retired. A Middletown
native, Cathie has been actively involved in such community affairs as PRISM
(Preservation, Restoration, and Improvement of South Main) and the Miami
Middletown Citizens Advisory Board. Janis Nein (board member since 2009) – A graduate from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Janis is a sales representative/designer for Alliance Printing & Mailing Services. Throughout her years of employment Janis has held positions with Knight Goodman, Inc. Federated Dept. Store in Milwaukee and freelancing from home producing many design projects for area companies and organizations. She served on the Middletown Arts Center Board of Governors many years ago and also chaired the Art Auction (major fundraiser) for the Center. Katherine Walters Oellerich (board member since 1998) current Secretary of the MAC Board of Governors, she served as President from 1988 through 1991 and again in 1998, and is a past-chairman of the Exhibits Committee. She is a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood National Educational Group for Women and is an Atrium Medical Center volunteer.Eleanor Yeager Stewart (board member since 2005) member of the Marketing and Special Events Committees and co-chair of the Annual Garden Tour, is a graduate of Miami University-Oxford with BA and MA degrees in English, and taught high school and college level courses for 35 years. She is presently associated with Executive Communication Strategies and is actively involved in the Middletown Community Foundation, PAWS, Middletown Clean Communities and the American Association of University Women. Joan Stonitsch (board member since 2008),She has a BA in English from Manhattanville College and has served as Senior Executive with significant General Management experience in strategizing, planning and motivating organizations to achieve both short and long-term results. Particular strengths include growing small to medium sized businesses, effectively orchestrating turnarounds and building a strong team. She is recognized for integrity and commitment and has retired from the formal business world to work with non-profit, community organizations. |
